Tive conhecimentosr em cada distribuição para usar no Sistema Operacional que quisesse: Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse, etc.
Com isso o Linux realmente teria to de várias pessoas que compraram computadores novos que vieram com o Sistema Linux, mas resolveram tirar o sistema por não acharem que fosse uma distribuição boa e coloca-se somente o sistema windows pirata ou não, por já estarem acostumados e que sabiam que teriam pessoas familizadas em ajudá-las em caso de necessidade.
Sou a favor de que uma distribuição vingue, pois a dispersão de várias distribuições entendo que inibe o crescimento de usuários de Linux no atual momento.

Padronização é preciso, mas uma única distribuição é uma besteira sem tamanho. Primeiro que tiraria o fator criativo da competitividade entre empresas. Depois tiraria a vantagem de ter distribuições pra públicos específicos. Quem usa Ubuntu não é o mesmo que usa Scientific Linux. Quem usa Moblin não é o mesmo que usa Debian.
